History and Business of Company (this information may include date of incorporation) | |
Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDTI) manufactures a broad line of semiconductors aimed at enhancing bandwidth for voice, data and wireless networks. The company's core competency is combining complex logic and high-speed memory to create application-specific, high-performance products. In FY 01 (Mar.), revenue of $992 million was derived primarily from the Communications and High-Performance Logic segment (69% of sales), with the remainder (31%) from Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) and Other segments. Over the past five years, the company has diversified away from commodity semiconductor markets to focus on producing higher value-added products for high-growth niches in the communications area. IDTI offered about 1,100 products in 12,000 different configurations at the end of FY 01. Product applications include data networking and telecommunications equipment such as routers, hubs, switches and cellular base stations; storage area networks (SANs); other networked peripherals and servers; and personal computers. Customers include many major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), such as Alcatel, Cisco, EMC, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Lucent, Nortel, Motorola, NEC, Siemens, and 3Com. In recent years, no single OEM accounted for over 10% of sales. However, when considering sales made through distributors and contract manufacturers in addition to direct sales, IDTI estimates that Cisco accounted for 16% to 18% of end-customer sales. Communications products offer enhanced system performance beyond the capability of standard memory products. They include FIFOs (first in/first out memory circuits), which act as rate buffers to transfer large amounts of data at high speeds between separate devices operating at different speeds; and multi-ported memory products, used to speed data transfers and link multiple microprocessors and the same memory bank, or between microprocessors and peripherals. IDTI's communications application specific standard products (ASSPs) include ATM switches, PHYs, communications processors, and IP (Internet Protocol) processors. IDTI's logic circuits process data communications between elements of electronic systems, such as between a microprocessor and a memory circuit. SRAMs are memory circuits used for storage and retrieval of data. SRAMs maintain their contents without requiring electrical reinforcement to ensure data integrity, and operate at fast speeds. The company operates wafer fabrication plants in Hillsboro, OR, and Salinas, CA. About 42% of FY 01 revenue was derived outside of North America. INCORPORATED in Delaware June 10, 1987, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (California) under the title Integrated Device Technology-Delaware, Inc.; and on Sept. 24, 1987, merged its parent on a share-for-share basis and adopted parent's title. Former parent was incorporated in California May 5, 1980. OFFICE- 2975 Stender Way, Santa Clara, CA, USA 95054 (Tel.: 408-727-6116). Fax - 408-492-8674. WEBSITE- http://www.idt.com. |
